CMCS Reopening Plan

We know that there are many questions and anxieties surrounding returning to school and our Reopening Plan. We were given an update this afternoon and wanted to provide you with the most up-to-date information.

Due to the Florida Department of Education's 2020-Emergency Order-06 (2020-EO-06) issued on Monday, July 6 and after confirmation from Pasco County Schools today, CMCS is happy to announce that we will be able to offer two educational options for the fall: Traditional and CMCS Online.

Based on 2020-EO-06, these innovative learning options will be in place for the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year.

Please take time to understand our plans for our two educational choices by exploring our CMCS Reopening Plan FAQs page. Please note that our FAQs have been updated as of today. Also, keep in mind that we are still developing specific procedures and policies regarding return to school, instructional models for both our traditional brick and mortar school and CMCS Online, as well as enhanced safety and health procedures.

If your child will remain at CMCS for the fall, please fill out our Student Intent to Return 2020-2021 form. Select the option that best meets your student’s needs. If you have more than one student at CMCS, you must fill out a different survey for each child. The deadline for making your selection is Tuesday, July 13th at 9:00 pm. Remember that you are making a decision for the entire first semester.

For more information, we will follow the district's mandates regarding masks for students in the classroom. At this time, they are not required; although, that is subject to change by the start of the school year. Students WILL be required to wear masks or face coverings during both morning and afternoon Car Line, while moving about the campus (i.e., walking to PE or recess), as well as during Before Care and After Care.

If you have any other questions to help make your decision, please email info@cmcsmontessori.com with questions.

If you have chosen an alternative to CMCS for the fall for your child, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing administration@cmcsmontessori.com.

We know this is probably one of the most difficult decisions you will likely have to make regarding your child's education. Please reach out if we can be of assistance.

Option 1: Traditional Brick and Mortar School @ CMCS

  • This model is for families who feel comfortable sending their children back to school, with appropriate health and safety precautions in place. Students and teachers will follow a traditional school schedule, though our beginning/ending times and schedules may be adjusted.

  • Daily school operations will look very different than in previous years, as we will be implementing enhanced health and safety guidelines. Some of the enhancements are:

    • Increased health and safety training for teachers/staff, students, and parents

    • Addition of a full-time Custodial Care Specialist, who will assist with additional daily cleaning of the school as well as assisting with the clinic.

    • Separate clinic space for students exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19

    • Temperate scans upon arrival in car line

    • Students will be socially distanced in cohort groups that will be kept together throughout the day. Teachers, not students, would move about the classes/campus for all activities, including Specials/Electives and car line, to limit exposure.

    • Large gatherings of students/assemblies/events/field trips would not be permitted.

    • Face coverings/masks will be encouraged.

    • We are still exploring how Before and/or After Care may work.

Option 2: Full Distance Learning with CMCS

  • This model is designed for families who would like to maintain their connection with CMCS but aren’t certain that they will feel safe to return their children to school in August.

  • Students will work virtually at home through Distance Learning with CMCS teachers. Students will have scheduled virtual lesson times, synchronous class meetings, and digital resources and assignments.

  • This will not look like Distance Learning from the spring. Virtual classes will be delivered during the scheduled school day.

  • Students will be at home learning and will need access to a device and internet.

  • Instruction is provided remotely and students will have access to their teachers during the regular school day hours.

  • Some classes (i.e., Specials/Electives) may not be offered via this option.
